Government Overstep

Many are rejoicing and many more are lamenting as the SCOTUS has now made it so that all states must accept gay marriage.  As the old saying goes..."It is now the law of the land."

For some it is seen as totalitarianism that is coming down on Christians.  Others see it as a great awakening of the nation after a long civil rights battle.  However, most do not see it from its legal perspective.  A catastrophic failure of a government that is supposed to be constrained by the Constitution.

If the SCOTUS were actually acting on Obergefell v. Hodges (and the issue of King v. Burwell, for that matter) according to their mandate in the Constitution, they would have referred these issues back to the states to deal with.

The 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states: "The powers not relegated to the United States by the Constitution nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the People."

As a nation we need to stop celebrating this Court's decisions and instead lament that that have shredded the Constitution every bit as much as our President has.  As a nation, we have to stop cowering in dread at the "almighty power of the government" to rule and impose an hearken back to the words of the Declaration of Independence:

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

America needs to be brought back to its founding principals.  America needs to wake up.  Otherwise, it will be too late.
